Reiki Training in Chicago: How to Choose the Right Path
Your Reiki Journey
Maybe you’ve been receiving Reiki for a while and something in you is whispering, go deeper. Or maybe you keep hearing about energy healing and feel curious — not just to receive it, but to understand it.
That quiet pull matters.
If you’ve been exploring Reiki training in Chicago, you’ve likely noticed there are many options — weekend intensives, virtual certification programs, or private immersions. The real question isn’t which one is “best,” but which one feels aligned with your values and intentions.
At Soul House, a wellness center nestled between Chicago’s Fulton Market and West Town neighborhoods, we hold multiple Reiki training sessions throughout the year, across multiple certification levels. They are both grounding and mystical — rooted in lineage, yet meant to expand your everyday life.
What is Reiki Training, Really?
Reiki is a form of energy healing that guides, nourishes, and restores your system on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. It is often experienced as a deeply relaxing, meditative state that heightens connection and intuition.
When you join a Reiki training, you’re not just learning a technique—you’re receiving attunements, practices, and frameworks that help you in your everyday life. Additionally, coming out of training you’ll being to:
Understand how energy moves in and around the body.
Develop intuitive listening skills and tactics to calm and steady the nervous system.
Be able to offer energy healing to yourself, loved ones, or eventually to clients.
Integrate Reiki into daily life: from stress management to creative flow to spiritual growth.
Choosing a Reiki Training in Chicago
If you are starting your search for Reiki training in Chicago, you’re likely comparing a few key questions. Here are some of the most important factors to consider:
Teacher and energy. Notice how you feel when you read the teacher’s bio, watch their videos, or step into their space—do you feel safe, seen, and inspired to learn?
Class size and structure. Everyone learns differently, however, smaller groups often allow for more practice, questions, and personalized guidance, while larger groups may feel more like a lecture.
Certification and associations. Some programs are affiliated with organizations like the International Center for Reiki Training or other bodies, which may matter if you plan to practice professionally or teach.
Location and environment. Your nervous system learns best when you feel at ease. Consider whether the studio’s neighborhood, parking, and overall vibe feel like a place you can breathe and really lean in.
Ongoing community and support. Ask if there are Reiki shares, mentorship opportunities, or advanced training to continue your growth after completing your first Reiki training.
Take a moment to journal on what you’re really looking for in your training: Are you called to Reiki primarily for self‑healing? To support family or clients? To deepen your spiritual path? Your “why” may help you clarify what Chicago Reiki training is right for you. If you don’t know, that’s okay too.

You want to learn Reiki primarily for self‑healing and to support friends and family.
You’re open‑hearted and curious.
Advanced Path includes Reiki Master and can be followed by Karuna. This is aligned if:
You’ve already completed Reiki 1 and 2 trainings, at least six months prior, and want to deepen your practice.
You feel called to offer Reiki professionally or eventually teach and attune others.
You’re ready for more advanced techniques, symbols, and spiritual practice

Commonly Asked Questions about Reiki Training at Soul House
How long does Reiki training take?
Reiki trainings at Soul House are offered as immersive in‑person experiences, typically scheduled over concentrated dates so you can drop in fully. Exact dates and formats vary by level, and are posted on our Reiki Training pages.
Do I need any prior experience?
Our Beginner Path is designed for students who are brand new to Reiki and energy work. All you need is an open mind, a willingness to learn, and a desire to support your own healing.
If you’re considering the Advanced Path, to participate in Reiki Master training, students must have completed their Reiki 1 and 2 training and have been practicing for at least six months.
Will I be certified?
Yes. Soul House is a proud member of the Reiki Membership Association, and all Reiki courses are certified by the International Center for Reiki Training. You’ll receive a certificate upon completion of each level.
Can I use this to start a healing practice?
Many students begin by learning Reiki for themselves and loved ones, then gradually feel called to offer sessions or integrate energy work into existing practices like coaching, therapy, bodywork, or yoga teaching. Advanced Path training will support you if you feel called to teach and attune others.

Learn how to hold space for others while staying grounded in your own body.
Tune into a higher intelligence that you can lean on in moments of stress, decision, and change.
At Soul House, we hold this work with reverence and also with a sense of everyday practicality. You’ll leave not only with attunements and symbols, but with simple ways to weave Reiki into your relationships, work, and own inner-home.
